The Big Boy Steel Side Gate maintains the brush gun character of the brass-framed Big Boys in overall configuration while incorporating upgraded features for the modern hunter, weighing 1.68lbs. less than its brass counterpart. Available in .357 Mag/.38 Special, .44 Mag/.44 Special, and .45 Colt, these Side Gate models come with either a standard 20″ round barrel and regular lever, or a compact 16.5″ round barrel paired with a large-loop lever designed for gloved cold-weather use.
Both configurations feature fine checkering on the genuine American walnut fore-end and straight-wrist stock, range-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear and brass bead front sights, and an automatic in-hammer transfer bar safety. The rifles incorporate a side loading gate combined with a removable tube magazine configuration for versatile loading options. The 20″ rifle model holds a 10-round capacity, while the 16.5″ carbine model holds a 7-round capacity.
