Winchester’s Model 70 Extreme Weather Stainless pairs a Bell and Carlson lay-up composite stock with a trim, lightweight design that delivers solid ergonomics. The textured charcoal gray matte finish and enhanced grip texture perform reliably in adverse conditions. A sculpted cheekpiece ensures proper eye-to-scope alignment across all shooting positions. The thick, black Pachmayr Decelerator pad significantly reduces felt recoil from high performance magnum cartridges. Like all current Model 70s, this rifle incorporates the Pre-64 type claw extractor with Controlled Round Feeding, allowing cartridges to be easily withdrawn from the chamber at any point after leaving the magazine. The Extreme Weather SS features a free-floating, fluted stainless steel barrel manufactured in the same factory as those used in U.S. military rifles and machine guns, with a recessed target crown that protects the rifling.
