The Winchester Model 70 has set the standard for bolt-action rifles since 1936. This rifle features the iconic 3-position safety, operable by thumb from your firing hand, which lifts the firing pin away from the sear. The receiver is forged steel, machined from a solid block, with a flat bottom profile that maximizes bedding surface area. Two-part epoxy bedding at the front and rear prevents movement within the stock during firing.
The Controlled Round Feed (CRF) bolt design uses a massive claw extractor that engages approximately one-quarter of the cartridge base. This maintains complete control over the round from magazine to chamber through full ejection, and permits extraction of unfired cartridges that are not yet fully chambered. The M.O.A. Trigger System is a three-lever trigger mechanism engineered for precision, combining improved fit and finish with enhanced accuracy and classic Pre-’64 controlled round feeding. A blade-type ejector provides full control during case ejection.
The free-floating barrel is button rifled to ensure superior accuracy and durability. This Extreme Weather model is chambered in 6.8 Western and features a Bell & Carson stock with aluminum bedding, matte stainless metal finish, and fluted barrel.
