The Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan is a stainless-steel double-action revolver chambered in 480 Ruger with a 6-round capacity. Its hammer-forged 2.5-inch barrel is paired with a strong extended frame featuring extra metal in the top strap, sidewalls, and barrel mounting areas to withstand powerful big game loads. The triple-locking cylinder locks into the frame at the front, rear, and bottom for positive alignment and dependable operation.
Built from corrosion-resistant stainless steel with a satin finish, this revolver incorporates Ruger’s patented transfer bar mechanism to provide security against accidental discharge. The hammer-forged barrel is paired with a ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight. The gun ships with a Hogue Tamer Monogrip featuring an internal recoil cushion to help manage the impact of powerful loads.
Ruger introduced the Alaskan in 2005 after President Steven Sanetti heard repeated requests for a short-barreled, large-bore magnum handgun suitable for handy field carry. It remains a practical choice for those who live or play in America’s Western wilderness and face the threat of an unexpected attack by a bear or other dangerous animal.
