The Berger 30 Caliber 168 Grain VLD Hunting Reloading Bullet delivers some of the flattest trajectories available in hunting ammunition. These bullets share the same design philosophy as VLD Target rounds but feature a thinner J4 Precision jacket engineered for rapid expansion when hunting game. The VLD Hunting design penetrates 2-3 inches before expanding to create a massive wound cavity up to 15 inches, with hydrostatic shock typically causing immediate drop in most animals.
The secant ogive design reduces aerodynamic drag significantly, which translates directly to flatter shooting performance, minimal wind-drift, and superior retained velocity compared to conventional hunting bullets. Many shooters favor loading VLDs touching the rifling for single-shot applications, though some rifles may shoot better seated as much as .150 from the rifling.
Each box contains 100 rounds. Berger VLD Hunting Bullets are built with highly consistent J4 Precision Bullet jackets, the same quality favored by custom bullet makers. These rounds are extremely popular for long range hunting applications.
