The L.E. Wilson Cartridge Case Gage 50 BMG is a one-piece, non-adjustable cylinder-type gage for checking fired and resized cartridge cases for cone-to-head and overall length against minimum SAAMI chamber dimensions. Constructed from precision-machined steel, this essential reloading tool allows handloaders to make critical headspace measurements before full-length sizing.
The one-piece gage works with bottle-necked rimmed and rimless cases, demonstrates the need for trimming of an individual case, and allows a check of headspace from the datum to help you set your full-length sizer to assure proper shoulder set-back. Take a measurement on headspace using either a depth micrometer or caliper, depending on how the case sits in the gage. Once initial measurements are taken, slowly dial in the full-length sizer until there is a 0.001 to 0.002 drop in headspace, allowing you to resize cases just below your chamber’s headspace for optimal accuracy while extending brass life.
