The Strike Industries Mass Driver Compensator (MDC) represents a significant advancement in compensator design, moving beyond largely unchanged designs from the 1930s. Inspired by theoretical mass driver engines used in space travel, the MDC operates on the principle that ejecting mass generates an equal and opposite reaction. The compensator harnesses hot gases expelled from the barrel after firing to function as a counter balance system that attenuates mechanical recoil. Unlike traditional barrel-mounted compensators that add reciprocating mass and increase the moment of inertia to the operating system—potentially affecting reliable cycling in recoil-operated handguns—the MDC separates from the operating components after ignition. This design maintains close to stock cyclic speeds while reducing reciprocating mass. The compensator features a widened bore to minimize baffle strikes and keyholing, plus a 2.5mm relief cut at the top of the rear to reduce lipping and damage to the pistol slide face. The Mass Driver Comp is compatible with most GLOCK aftermarket threaded barrels, with Strike Industries having tested it with a majority of popular brands on the market, though not all.
