The Proof Research 110171 is a 264 caliber bolt action barrel blank in the Sendero contour with a 1:7.5″ twist rate and 24″ length. This barrel begins with a full-profile, match-grade 416R stainless steel barrel blank, then wrapped with high-strength, aerospace-grade carbon fiber impregnated with a proprietary matrix resin. The barrel arrives ready for threading and chambering by your gunsmith.
The carbon fibers have a unique ability to diffuse heat along the length of the barrel, delivering superior thermal management compared to traditional steel. This carbon fiber construction delivers up to 64% weight reduction compared to traditional steel barrels of similar contour. Proof Research’s patented process produces barrels that are much lighter than comparable steel contours, are stiffer and have less harmonic vibration than steel, and dissipate heat more quickly than steel resulting in maintained accuracy over longer sessions of fire and longer barrel life. Despite these performance advantages, the barrels are as accurate as the finest precision steel barrels.
