The Hornady Powder Through™ Expander (PTX™) is designed to work in conjunction with the Case Activated Powder Drop. This model (part number 290050) is designed for 0.308 bullet diameter, making it ideal for 30 caliber reloading. The expander eliminates the need for a separate case mouth expander die on the Lock-N-Load® AP™ press, freeing up an extra station for a taper crimp die or powder cop.
The expander works with lead, plated and jacketed bullets. The expander is inserted into the powder die, and then the case activated powder drop sits on top of that die with the powder measure on top. This streamlined integration allows reloaders to charge cases while simultaneously expanding the case mouth, improving efficiency on your progressive press setup.
