Kicks Industries designed all of their chokes around a conical parallel construction. This combines a typical cone of constriction with a parallel section—roughly 1″ in length—where constriction remains constant, a feature rarely seen in competing choke designs. The chokes incorporate exclusive directional diagonal ports angled outward to create a sharp forward inside edge that grabs, stabilizes, and slows the wad, enabling faster separation between wad and shot column. This design delivers cleaner patterns unaffected by wad interference.
The diagonal ports serve a dual purpose: they reduce muzzle jump and recoil, enabling faster and more accurate follow-up shots. The external ported section extends roughly 1 3/4″ from the muzzle with minimal visual signature during shooting. The ports are angled 135 degrees away from the shooter, which significantly reduces side blast compared to ports angled 90 degrees or less—a meaningful advantage in close-quarters environments like duck blinds, trap fields, and five stand. The port design resists fouling unlike other choke tubes.
The Gobblin’ Thunder has earned two NWTF still target shoot victories in Atlanta, GA, and claimed two NWTF Ladies Open Competition wins along with the ’98 Jakes competition title. Kicks Industries has also recorded numerous grand slam hunts with this model. The Gobblin’ Thunder readily converts most factory-threaded 10 & 12 gauge barrels into a dedicated turkey hunting tool.
