Kicks Industries engineered the Gobblin Thunder with a conical parallel design that pairs a traditional cone of constriction with a parallel section roughly 1″ where constriction remains constant. This design distinguishes Kicks chokes from most competitors in the market.
The Gobblin Thunder features exclusive directional diagonal ports angled at 135 degrees away from the shooter. This angle creates a sharp forward inside edge that grabs, stabilizes, and slows the wad, enabling faster separation between wad and shot column. The result is a cleaner pattern unaffected by wad interference. These diagonal ports also reduce muzzle jump and recoil, allowing for faster and more accurate follow-up shots. The 135-degree port angle significantly reduces side blast compared to ports angled 90 degrees or less—a notable advantage in close-quarters environments like duck blinds, trap fields, and five stand. The ports are engineered to stay clear and resist fouling.
The external ported section extends roughly 1 3/4″ from the muzzle and remains unobtrusive during shooting. The Gobblin Thunder is a two-time winner of the NWTF still target shoot in Atlanta, GA, a two-time winner of the NWTF Ladies Open Competition, and the ’98 winner of the Jakes competition. Kicks has also captured many grand slam hunts. The Gobblin Thunder readily converts most factory-threaded 10 and 12 gauge barrels into a dedicated turkey hunting tool.
