The Lee Precision 6.5 Carcano Factory Crimp Die (Model 91229) uses a collet to squeeze the case mouth into the bullet’s crimping groove with the same method employed in factory ammunition production, delivering a more secure crimp than standard roll crimp dies.
Unlike conventional roll crimp tools, this factory crimp die cannot buckle the case, and case trim length is not critical to operation. Testing has shown that even bullets without a crimp groove will produce more accurate results when used with this die. A firm crimp raises the pressure threshold before bullet movement occurs, which produces a more uniform pressure curve and reduces velocity variation from shot to shot. Powder selection becomes less critical as well.
