Do I Need a PAL? — Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PAL?

A Possession and Acquisition Licence is Canada’s firearms licence. It’s issued by the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program. Without one, you can still buy general accessories from us — but not firearms, ammunition, magazines, or firearm parts.

How do I get a PAL?

Complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, pass the test, then apply through the RCMP. Visit the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program website for full details and to find a course near you.

I have an RPAL — can I buy handguns?

As of December 2023, individuals cannot import handguns into Canada regardless of licence type. This is a federal restriction under Bill C-21. We cannot ship handguns to Canadian customers at this time.

What is a Restricted firearm?

Restricted firearms (like certain semi-automatic rifles with specific features) require an RPAL plus an Authorization to Transport (ATT) from your provincial Chief Firearms Officer before they can be imported. We can help guide you through this process — contact us and we’ll walk you through it.

How long does shipping take?

Accessories and non-controlled items typically ship via USPS Priority Mail — allow 5–10 business days. Firearms and controlled items ship via our monthly consolidated shipment through our Ottawa hub — allow 3–6 weeks. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
