About Winchester
Winchester was founded in 1866 by Oliver Winchester in New Haven, Connecticut, and few names in American history carry the weight that Winchester does. The Model 1873 — “The Gun That Won the West” — and the legendary Model 1894 lever action helped define an era, and the Model 70 bolt action, long known as “The Rifleman’s Rifle,” remains one of the most respected production bolt guns ever made. Today, Winchester firearms are produced by FN Herstal at their facility in Columbia, South Carolina, while Winchester ammunition is produced by Olin Corporation — and across both categories, the Winchester name continues to represent American firearms heritage at its deepest. Over 150 years in, Winchester remains one of the brands our customers ask for by name.
