The Hornady 046049 7mm Short (.284″) Neck Size Die is an effective neck sizing die for bolt-action rifles, designed for reloaders who want to maximize case life and consistency. Neck sizing with this die eliminates problems of excessive head space and aligns the bullet perfectly with the bore, resulting in better accuracy and longer case life. The Zip Spindle™ design on the die positively locks to eliminate slippage.
This die features a hand polished interior guaranteed not to scratch brass, a threaded replaceable expander assembly, and an elliptical expander that reduces case neck friction and stretching while easing the process of necking up brass. The die should only be used in cases that will be fired from a bolt action or single shot rifle.
Neck sizing increases consistency, improves head spacing, and extends brass life by leaving the brass fireformed to fit only the rifle it came from. Neck sized cartridges should only be fired in the same manually operated firearm that fired formed it, and should not be used in semi automatic firearms, as they require full length resizing to function.
