Area 419 Sidewinder Magnum Self Timing Muzzle Brake – 357 cal, Black Nitride
The Area 419 Sidewinder Magnum features a self-timing design that eliminates the guesswork during installation. The brake will not rotate as you torque the collar to lock, and a simple round knurled nut requires no tools to achieve proper timing. Return to zero is excellent—removing and reinstalling the brake will not require a zero change.
Installation is straightforward: torque the included universal adapter onto your barrel with a 13/16″ wrench (this piece never needs removal). LEFT HAND thread the brake/collar assembly onto the adapter until almost snug, then rotate the brake until level. Push the brake into the adapter until you feel it lock onto the taper, then hand-tighten the collar fully and you’re complete.
The Sidewinder design employs rearward-facing ports for maximum recoil reduction. It is modeled after Area 419’s popular HELLFIRE brake, which was independently tested against leading competitors and demonstrated 52% recoil reduction on a 6.5 Creedmoor test rifle—approximately 4% more than one of the market’s most popular brakes. The Sidewinder features one additional port and larger diameter than the HELLFIRE, so expect a notable increase in recoil abatement.
The proprietary port design controls muzzle rise without top porting. The progressive port design accounts for efficiency changes with distance from the muzzle: the first port is enlarged while subsequent ports decrease slightly, maintaining overall length without sacrificing performance. The brake face is engraved with caliber and includes a horizontal line to aid in leveling.
Manufactured from heat-treated 17-4PH Stainless Steel on state-of-the-art CNC machines in NW Ohio, this is 100% Made in USA. The brake measures 1.125″ OD with a 1.275″ OD collar, is 3.35″ in length (adds approximately 2.75″ to barrel length), and weighs 7.5oz (brake plus adapter). Suppressor mounts like those available for the HELLFIRE will be available soon.
