The SMR distinguishes itself through factory dedication to a single caliber—338 Norma Magnum—eliminating the interchangeable barrel system of the standard MRAD. A free float barrel secured to the upper receiver via standard barrel nut provides consistent performance. The non-folding stock features a vertically adjustable cheek piece and separate spacers for length of pull customization.
These design choices yield a notably lighter and more compact platform, reducing weight by nearly 2½ lbs and overall length by 1 inch compared to the standard MRAD configuration.
