The Barrett MRAD SMR is a factory-configured, single-caliber precision rifle built around the MRAD platform, configured in .338 Lapua Magnum with a 26″ fluted, match-grade barrel and a fixed, adjustable-comb stock that streamlines the MRAD design into a lighter, slimmer package. The rifle includes a fully adjustable match-grade trigger module and an ambidextrous control layout designed for intuitive handling by either right- or left-handed users. The MRAD SMR features .75 MOA accuracy and incorporates a full-length Picatinny top rail for optics and long-range accessories.
The MRAD SMR bolt rides in a unique enclosed polymer bolt guide that provides smooth reliable operation even in harsh environments where traditional designs with insufficient clearance can bind. The primary distinction of the SMR is the free float barrel held in the upper receiver with a standard barrel nut, and the non-folding stock is fixed with a vertically adjustable cheek piece and separate spacers for length of pull adjustment. The trigger module can be removed from the lower receiver quickly and with no tools, enhancing the modularity of this rifle system and aiding in field serviceability.
The user-installed thumb safety can be configured for left or right hand operation, with a short 45º throw allowing easy operation with minimal disturbance to the firing grip and sight. The SMR trades interchangeable-barrel capability for a dedicated, optimized single-caliber setup intended for long-range precision use. Capacity is 10, with the 26″ barrel featuring a match-grade fluted profile and 1:9.40 twist.
