The Daniel Defense Rail Interface System (RIS II) was designed at the request of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for the SOPMOD II program. SOCOM had a specific requirement for a free float M203 solution and Daniel Defense responded, designing a revolutionary product to meet the government’s need. Constructed of aircraft grade 6061-T6 aluminum with a free-floating barrel design for increased accuracy, this handguard delivers tactical modularity without compromise.
The RIS II features four picatinny rails in the 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock positions with plenty of space to mount accessories such as tactical lights/lasers, fore-grips, iron sights, and optics. The 12.25″ rail system weighs 17.1 oz and includes a steel barrel nut for the patented bolt-up system, engineered for carbine-length gas systems. The FSP variant features a cut-out in the top rail to accommodate a standard front sight base on a carbine-length gas system.
The RIS II utilizes Grade 8 mil-spec fasteners and a battle-tested 6-bolt system to attach to the handguard of the upper receiver. The two-piece design allows for the attachment of an M203 grenade launcher when the lower rail section is removed. The Flat Dark Earth finish features mil-spec type III hard coat anodization for durability and corrosion resistance in demanding environments.
