This hardened and precision-ground pilot is used in place of the regular case trimmer pilot, and is made .0020″ to .0025″ smaller than the bullet’s diameter. The Forster Hand-held Outside Neck Turner features the industry’s only carbide neck thickness cutter – no sharpening required, with precision machining and special angles designed specifically for neck turning, allowing turning right up to the case shoulder.
Experienced reloaders and target shooters use neck turning to remove variables from reloaded ammunition and create consistent neck thickness, ensuring that seated bullets have the same amount of tension holding them in place so the bullet leaves the case evenly for tighter groups downrange. The tool features a micrometer adjustment knob allowing fine adjustments easily adjustable to .0005″, with index marks at .001″ increments clearly stamped on the tool body.
