The Heckler & Koch USP9 Expert features a fiber-reinforced polymer frame reinforced with stainless steel inserts at high-stress and high-friction points. Heckler & Koch established its pioneering role in polymer handgun manufacturing over 30 years ago through the development of the VP70Z and P9S pistols.
This 9mm pistol is equipped with a frame-mounted control lever that serves as both safety and decocking mechanism, offering quick accessibility compared to the slide-mounted safeties found on many competing semi-automatic pistols. The USP9 Expert utilizes a modified Browning-type action paired with a special patented recoil reduction system that diminishes recoil effects on internal components while reducing felt recoil for the shooter. This recoil reduction system was tested and validated in the HK Mark 23 pistol, which was developed for the U.S. Special Operations Command.
The recoil reduction system operates independently of ammunition type and requires no special adjustment or maintenance, functioning reliably across all USP models. The USP9 Expert is configured as Variant 1 with double action/single action operation and a “SAFE” position, with the control lever positioned on the left side of the frame. Magazine capacity is 18-round.
