The InterLock design uses a “cup and core” construction with an exposed lead tip, and features a raised interlock ring embedded directly into the bullet’s core to mechanically lock the jacket and core together, keeping them unified upon impact as the lead tip initiates expansion. Interior grooves strategically weaken the upper section for increased expansion, while the tapered jacket controls expansion at higher velocities yet expands reliably at reduced velocities. The secant ogive design provides an aerodynamic profile while maintaining a long bearing surface.
The InterLock construction retains more mass and energy for deep penetration and large, consistent wound channels. A cannelure is included to provide accurate and consistent crimping and works with the InterLock ring to ensure the core and jacket remain locked during expansion.
