Designed for personal defense and medium-game hunting, Hornady XTP® Mag™ bullets provide the same controlled expansion, accuracy and dependability that have made XTP® bullets a favorite among target shooters and hunters alike. These bullets are engineered to withstand the higher velocities and impacts of ultra-powerful magnum handguns while delivering even deeper penetration than standard XTP® bullets. Each box contains 50 rounds of .45 caliber (.452″ diameter) 300-grain jacketed hollow point ammunition.
The XTP® Mag™ design incorporates sophisticated engineering for reliable terminal performance across a wide velocity range. Precise serrations divide the XTP® Mag™ into symmetrical sections, strategically weakening the jacket and initiating controlled expansion even at low velocities. The gilding metal jacket protects the nose of the bullet, so the hollow cavity functions properly on impact and ensures proper feeding in semi-automatics. A heavier than usual jacket is used to ensure that the bullet stands up to the higher pressures associated with hunting and defensive loads.
Total uniformity of core density ensures balanced expansion as well as in-flight stability, with expansion controlled by varying jacket thickness down the length of the XTP® Mag™, providing a definite advantage over plated bullets which have a uniform jacket thickness over the entire bullet. This ammunition is manufactured in the USA and is ideal for handloaders who demand precision components for magnum revolvers and high-performance defensive loads.
