Inspired by the XM-177 moderator, the KAK Retro Extended Flash Hider is a purpose-built muzzle device that reduces visible muzzle flash while providing a traditional, extended profile. It measures 6 inches and threads on with a 1/2×28 pattern for direct fitment to compatible AR-style barrels chambered in .223 Rem/5.56 NATO. When properly pinned and welded to a 10.5″ barrel, it will extend overall length to the non‑NFA rifle length specified by federal guidelines.
The design features CNC machining from bar steel that is heat treated for strength and phosphate coated to protect from corrosion, with 5 flash hiding ports. Precision machined in-house at KAK Industry, it measures 6.15″ long and features milled flats for easy installation, with a pre-drilled .125″ hole for pin and weld attachment. Similar to an A2 design, it has 5 ports on the top and sides with no gas ports on the bottom. It only requires a 3/4″ wrench to install by hand.
The flash hider adds approximately 5.56″ to overall length of barrel when pinned and welded. The unit features a durable phosphate finish and a straightforward design for reliable field use.
