The Faxon Match Series 14.5″ Gunner .223 Wylde barrel is engineered for shooters demanding match-grade accuracy in a lightweight package, combining Government durability with a pencil-like profile for a balanced carbine that transitions fast while maintaining accuracy. Manufactured from 416R stainless steel with 5R button rifling and a 1:8 twist rate, the bore receives salt bath nitride treatment inside and out to resist fouling and enhance durability. Chambered in .223 Wylde for match-grade precision, it safely fires both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO ammunition, making it an ideal foundation for performance builds and a popular choice for pin-and-weld configurations to achieve a 16″ legal OAL.
The Gunner contour follows the Government taper profile from the extension to the gas block, then transitions to a .625 gas block journal before adopting a pencil profile toward the muzzle. This design removes weight from the front while preserving material at the rear to maximize heat resistance and reduce barrel whip. Every barrel undergoes stress relief, air-gauge testing, magnetic particle inspection (MPI), and headspace verification. The M4 barrel extension features Nickel Teflon coating to improve lubricity and feeding consistency.
