The Redding 85148 Taper Crimp Die is engineered for the .30-06 Springfield rifle cartridge. A taper crimp gently tapers tighter and tighter to hold the bullet in place, without working the case mouth as hard as a roll crimp and without affecting the overall length of the cartridge. Ideal for bottleneck cartridges with bullets that lack a cannelure, taper crimping provides additional grip on the bullet so that it does not change depth under recoil or during feeding—a popular choice when loading for semi-auto rifles.
Redding guarantees their dies to produce ammunition that will properly fit any standard SAMMI chamber. To maintain tolerances and guarantee lasting performance, they are heat treated in atmospherically controlled furnaces, hand polished for smooth, flawless functioning, inspected, and ultrasonically cleaned before packaging. All Redding dies use the industry standard 7/8″-14 threaded bodies. The shellholder is sold separately.
