The Taurus 650 is a compact double-action-only revolver chambered in .357 Magnum with a 2-inch barrel, concealed hammer, and stainless steel construction. The 2-inch barreled model runs 6.56 inches overall, making it an ideal choice for concealed carry and close-quarters defense. The revolver holds 5 rounds and also handles .38 Special ammunition, providing versatile ammunition options for training and defensive use.
The 650’s concealed hammer allows for snag-free pocket draws and can even be fired from inside a coat pocket in extreme close-quarters situations. Sights are a U-notch in the top strap of the frame and a serrated front post that is removable. The large rubber grips are a standout feature, insulating the hand and helping maintain control without punishing the shooter. The Taurus revolver features the Taurus Security System, which provides instant-ready defense with built-in ability to secure your pistol and make it inoperable at the turn of a key. When engaged, the pistol cannot be fired or cocked and the gun’s manual safety cannot be disengaged. The device is part of the firearm and cannot be lost, with two keys included.
The 650 is a solid concealed carry option—especially for those who value simplicity, ruggedness, and affordability. The double-action-only Taurus includes a transfer bar ignition — the safest possible revolver action. A bar between the hammer and frame-mounted firing pin prevents the revolver from firing unless the trigger is pressed fully to the rear. As the trigger is pressed, the transfer bar rises to cover the firing pin, and the hammer strikes the bar, which transfers energy to the firing pin.
