Winchester Silvertip .40 S&W ammunition features a 155-grain jacketed hollow point that reaches 1205 feet per second muzzle velocity and delivers 500 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. The hollow-point construction is engineered to produce increased stopping power, with a jacket profile designed to ensure reliable feeding, precise accuracy, and consistent expansion characteristics.
The projectile’s nose cavity is rimmed with long notches that intentionally weaken the jacket structure, enabling extremely uniform mushrooming and wide, rapid terminal expansion. Winchester pairs this with a brass casing that resists corrosion and is supported by non-corrosive primers and a propellant formulation that generates less residue.
This round represents over 30 years of Winchester’s proven self-defense ammunition development. Packaged as 20 rounds per box, Silvertip serves both training and personal protection applications.
