The Winchester XPR Sporter in 6.8 Western with a 24-inch barrel is a bolt-action rifle designed to meet the demands of serious hunters. Built on Winchester Repeating Arms’ reputation for lasting quality, the XPR combines rugged construction with thoughtful engineering for reliable field performance.
The foundation of every XPR is Winchester’s M.O.A. Trigger System. The trigger housing and all internal components are constructed of polished and hardened carbon steel with a blued finish, delivering durability and corrosion resistance. A two-position safety operates conveniently with your thumb, while the bolt release button—located just in front of the safety—allows you to cycle unfired cartridges with the safety engaged. A cocking indicator on the bolt shroud provides both tactile and visual confirmation of the rifle’s cocked or uncocked state.
The XPR bolt is machined from chromoly steel barstock and through-hardened during heat-treatment. The design incorporates three front locking lugs and a short 60-degree lift to improve scope clearance during the cycling motion. A nickel Teflon coating ensures smooth operation and added corrosion resistance. The one-piece trigger guard and magazine frame design provides a generous guard opening for use while wearing gloves.
The chromoly steel barrel is precisely button-rifled for accuracy across a wide range of bullet weights and types, with a free-floating design that eliminates pressure points affecting shot placement. The rifle features a drilled and tapped chromoly steel receiver, a detachable single stack box magazine, and a walnut stock paired with a Perma-Cote metal finish. Combined with an Inflex Technology recoil pad, the Sporter model delivers dependable performance for hunters who demand quality and reliability.
