The Weatherby Mark V Backcountry 2.0 represents the next evolution of the ground-breaking Backcountry line, building on the proven steel Weatherby Mark V action with significant refinements. The carbon fiber Peak 44 Blacktooth stock stands out as the primary upgrade, with the lightest configurations weighing under 20 ounces. The stock incorporates a 3DHEX recoil pad featuring a series of interlocking voids that progressively collapse during recoil, extending the time component of the recoil impulse and reducing the sharp kick associated with magnum chamberings.
The lightweight fluted barrel is fitted with Weatherby’s Accubrake ST. The bolt body features more pronounced spiral fluting that reduces weight while decreasing bearing surface within the action, resulting in smoother operation. The bolt handle is newly-threaded and equipped with a lightweight aluminum extended and skeletonized knob. Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and engineered to deliver minimal weight without compromise, the Backcountry 2.0 proves itself a worthy successor in the pursuit of the lightest possible rifle.
